The tale of the fearsome challenges faced by contemporary global migrants is too rarely told, their plight too readily dismissed. Unfortunately a story worth telling does not result, in this case, in a film worth seeing.
There's a new sense of purpose among artists and activists in Russia, united in their opposition to an increasingly oppressive regime. Some of them came to Tromsø and gave us so much more than just another art exhibition. They gave us a real carnival and a testimony to the creative human spirit.
Old hat be damned! Surely this is one of the pioneering greats of movie history? It left me with an overwhelming feeling of gratitude – gratitude that this film was made, that it still exists, and that I was lucky enough to see it.
